Hi Jules, on my way to pick up a video tonight I decided to stop by our local Circuit City store to see what if anything was new. I saw a machine by Compaq which really enthralled me. Basically what it is, is a Television 36" with a built in Browser and computer! The transition was totally seemless. I think they are really on to something there! It was pretty steep at 4,999.00. But here is what you get. A 200mhz Pentium with 40 meg of Ram with a 3.6gig hard drive intergrated with a really nice RCA 36" television.

You could use your remote and just click back and forth between the Net and Television. Or you could display the television while your were surfing as a small block on the screen anywhere. You can also use any local ISP, instead of that forced idea Web T.V. has where you never have a local call. The Compaq remote keyboard was also really nice. Sturdy and seemed to made with real quality.

So, why on the Intel thread? It looks to me like this will be a great way for Intel to circumnavigate this whole Web T.V. market and get there chips in these appliances. Granted it's the higher end of the market but at least the integration involves Intel in a big way now.

Regards, Michael

p.s. Outstanding, report on the Intel meeting! Thanks for sharing your insights. Now I know how those PR people came up with that When EF Hutton Talks logo. :-)
