I'm looking for some education: Vermont is a very liberal state Somewhere in the coverage on this issue, I read that prior to the mid-1950s Vermont was one of the strongest Republican states. If the Republicans were conservative during that time (I presume that's so, but again am willing to be corrected), then Vermont was conservative. So, what happened to turn Vermont so liberal? Was there a demographic change (immigration, an exaggerated baby-boom)? Economic hardship? It seems odd that in 50 years you would have that shift there but not elsewhere. TIA
