No need, really. The Bush team has been making plans all along as if the Senate tie was just a passing luxury. Remember Reagan created our modern world with two tax cuts: 1981 through a Democratic House, 1986 through a Democratic Senate & House. Thomas and Scalia were confirmed by Democratic Senates.

As a conservative, I am MORE than willing to let the over-intrusive federal court system-including the USSC-waste away slowly on the vine until the people decide to put 60 Senators and a like-minded president together someday to fill the void. And if that court system stops operating for, say, twenty years until that happens, I'm OK with that. I'm also OK with Scalia and Thomas being the only ones left, and writing all the decisions for the rest of our lives.

The question you need to ask yourself-and Tom Daschle needs to ask HIMSELF-is: Is that OK with the enemy, the American Left?...
