jorj,

$40K??? Bejesus... I don't think I've paid that much in fees & commissions in my entire life. In fact, I know I haven't. And I'll go one step further and state that, including federal & state taxes, I haven't paid anywhere near $40K. Something to be said for long term, buy-and-hold investing (which I do) (or trading in a tax deferred account) I guess...

I've got no gripe with the folks that think of themselves as gurus. I don't subscribe. I'd never subscribe. I don't trade short term. If anyone out there wants to pay someone else to make the calls, that's okay by me. There should be some sort of law that prevents these sheep from whining after the fact though. That's one of my pet peeves. Some idiot won't (or doesn't know how to) do the work himself or herself, and then whines about losses or being scammed or whatever. People not taking responsibility for their own bad judgments really irks me.

As far as these gurus coming to chat boards to set up shop, hey! It comes with the territory. If they're touting stocks on NASDAQ or NYSE and if they're "backing the talk" with technical analysis, I tend to leave them alone. But if they're touting penny stocks (OTCBB or Pinks) or if they're providing misleading fundamental analysis, then I'd be all over 'em like white on salt. I guess everyone has a differing point of view on this stuff, different levels of tolerance. The bottom line is still determined by the actions of the SEC (or lack of action, as it sometimes seems).
