Watson: Name ONE mass produced, complicated, large scale product/device/etc which has run without a bit of error?? If thousands of programmers at Microsft can't make Windows run forever without a blue screen of death, just how in the world do you think a monalithic, relatively untested, extremely complicated structure known as a nuclear power plant possibly run without problem?? Chernobyl, Mile Island... we've seen reality already. You can make excuses, but bottom line is that there will always be stupid people somewhere who make "stupid" mistakes, or forget about some arcane piece of the puzzle. What happens when terrorists gain control of a nuclear power plant... talk about dumb people running things?? We've been mass producing cars for over 100 years now, but there isn't a car on the road that will not run into trouble after 5 years of usage. Wasn't the Ford/Firestone tire debacle proof enough?? Most importantly, nuclear waste is a very serious problem which we do NOT have an answer for today... and when we do, you can bet it will cost billions and billions of $$. Again, the environmental benefits AND the economics are very clear... Bush simply ignores reality and snarls at the left out of mere pleasure and desire for power and money from his constituents. Here's some realities of Bush's "energy plan": sierraclub.org
