EP, that's a nice bit of sophistry.

It's not a 'safety mechanism', it's an excuse for OEMs to provide inadequate heatsinks (using Intel's inaccurate, understated thermal specifications ) and still claim X GHz, while the customer may not realize this performance at the times he needs it most.

AMD provides real thermal specs, and if you follow them, you have no problems.
