I would certainly be disappointed if Miller changed parties
but Zell needs to answer to his constituents and his conscience. I would expect he won't do that mainly because there is a large population of Afro-Americans in Georgia who will not likely be too friendly to such a change. Otherwise, he might already have made the change. Miller probably votes with the Republicans often so he is a politician whose votes don't usually follow the party line.

The Democratic Party is more tolerant than the Republicans.....it's more inclusive so it has more practice with compromise.

I would expect Miller will be courted by both sides during the next few months.

Also, Chaffee from Rhode island was on Larry King tonight. I think he indirectly was serving the Bush administration notice that he could follow Jefford's path if he was not treated fairly. Some of his language was not terribly supportive of the current tone of the administration. I think he was serving a warning notice and was reaching out for increased moderation by the current leadership.
