Lunch after Intel Annual Meeting was a success

Paul Engel generously picked up the tab for the excellent lunch at Nicolino's after the Intel Annual Meeting. Twenty two cheers!

The meeting itself was a bit boring, as annual meetings usually are. At least Intel meetings are well attended. (One of the lunch attendees was telling me earlier that a dot com company whose meeting he attended had only a dozen or so outsiders at their meeting and the meeting was over in 12 minutes. Wow.)

This was Gordon Moore's retirement from the Board of Directors, as messages here have already discussed. The end of an era. He'll still have a role, but it's still the end of an era.

The lunch had a distinguished group of folks. Half a dozen SI regulars. And a bunch of former Intel folks. Hoping I don't forget anyone, here are some of their accomplishments (not all want their names listed, so I'll go by their careers): a designer of Intel's 432 and 860 processors, the designer of the 8051, the head of the 64 K RAM project, the designer of the neural net chip, the designer of most of Intel's early packages, half the staff of Intel's CCD project, a current staff member from the Itanium project, the son of a founder of Intel, and many other interesting folks. (Apologies to anyone I left out, through either not knowing them, not talking to them, or forgetting them.)

A distinguished group.

And a lot of good discussions.

Thanks again to Paul.
