I have no idea as to when Merck will announce. Just watch for the application to the FDA for a phase II trial. From a public response to Bill Clinton's speach on the subject, Merck has said they will start clinical studies on a NAKED DNA vaccine for AIDS in the next 12 months. (Why would they do that with their being other approaches unless the flu results are good.?) Pasteur Merielux Connaught will start their work on a naked dna malaria vaccine within a few months. Vical has lots of things in the pipeline; vaccines, the cancer treatments and the gene therapy delivery system. A positive for one or more will make the stock very valuable. I am long on this one.
