>Remember that there has NEVER been a Palestinian state.
Take a look at all the new independent states in the world, it's about self determination. Too bad our administrations support than only when it's in our self interest, double standards.
>So while we're talking about "justice", I would like to know when Israel will receive some from the Syrians and Jordanians, neither of which have entered into a formal peace treaty with Israel.
Well, returning the Golan Heights will go very far in accomplishing this.
>And btw, when was the last time you saw a Jew strap on a bomb, walk into a crowded marketplace or mall, and blow himself, and anyone around him, to pieces?
First, I do not believe there is a mall that they can go to<g>. Besides, the Israeli army serves collective punishment daily. Don't take that as endorsement of the Palestinian tactics. But I do understand whey they are doing this.
>Why hasn't the PA met its pledge to arrest all such terrorists?
They indeed made great progress on this issue until they realized that Israel just wanted to keep negotiating.
> Why is the PA police chief instead ordering mortar shells to be manufactured so they can be launched over the border into Israel?
Well, knowing the famous torture tactics of the Israeli Mossad and police, what would you expect him to say?<g>
>The bottom line is George, that Arafat has FAR MORE than he possessed during the Intifada (when Israelis were patrolling all of the West Bank).
I agree with that. That should not stop Israel from making tougher compromises to achieve true peace.
>That's 35,000 Palestinians walking around with AK-47s policing the PA during the day, and sniping at Israelis across the border on their off time.
I know, there is too many of them...But, hey, it's a paycheck, they got to feed their families in some way.
>And finally, who will reimburse the Israelis for all the economic investment they have made on the West Bank? Who will pay them back for connecting the Arabs to the electrical grid, and hooking them up with indoor plumbing?
Oh, please.
>And why does Israel owe the Palestinians an economic viable state? Can't they create one on their own as the Jews did?
Well, it would be pretty tough to do it surrounded by such a strong military force relentlessly occupying them...And, besides, if Palestinians got half of what the Israelis get annually in aid (what is it, 5 billion now) I bet you they will have a pretty good chance in creating such a state (even with all of Arafat's cronyism, etc.)
I forgot to state in my previous response outlining what constitutes true peace that Israel should be given guarantees of its security...It appears from the biased media that the Palestinians violated that but I do not agree.
This is good dialogue, instead of ranting about carpet bombing a whole people like my Italian buddy suggests<g> |
