The nurse shortage isn't really related to inflation. More of a side effect of the managed care mess - insurance companies want hospitals to cut corners, and the corners they cut are nurses. Hard work, low pay. Don't get sick!

In the meantime, pharmaceutical companies are fighting like tigers to keep safe drugs from being sold over the counter, and switching patients from a drug that's going off patent, e.g., metformin, to another one that does exactly the same thing but is still under patent, e.g., time-release Glucophage. Funny how the time-release Glucophage is coming out just when regular Glucophage is going off-patent. Caveat emptor.
