Well, AJ was pretty rude, but you're mixing up Canada and the US. Your caricture isn't too far off for parts of the US. But Canada, where AJ lives, is a far different thing. For some reason, much less acceptance of violence, no culture of racism (maybe because black slavery and culture never got established there), basically a very peaceful people.

The violence of North America is mostly south of that border. I regret to say.

He could have been a lot more polite about it, but you have to be concerned about what's happening in England -- at least the parts that get reported in the press over here -- about soccer riots and IRA bombings and other indicia that life in England is not as it was in Queen Victoria's day!
