SemiOT:Plug Power Inc. Awarded $7M Contract, Receives CSA Certification
LATHAM, N.Y., May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), today reported the recent execution of a $7 million dollar agreement with a public utility to purchase 75 of Plug Power's first commercial fuel cell systems together with installation, maintenance, training, engineering and other technical support services.
The program, which will include the development of remote dispatch software, will commence this summer. The overall objective of the program is to gain additional knowledge of the operation, control, grid interconnection, environmental factors and operating modes of fuel cell units to support utility applications including future residential applications.
Additionally, Plug Power announced that it has completed the testing and evaluation required for CSA International certification of its initial fuel cell units and received approval to produce units bearing the CSA International certification seals for the United States.

The new GridLinkTM Interface allows fuel cells to operate just like "plug-in" appliances and will enable them to operate seamlessly in a grid-independent or grid-parallel mode. The new GridLinkTM Interface will be sold as part of SatCon's PowerGateTM Power Conversion Systems, which are designed to handle load requirements up to 50kW. The PowerGateTM System, including SatCon's new GridLinkTM Interface and a SatCon Controller, convert low voltage DC power from fuel cells into useable AC power. The PowerGateTM system with the GridLinkTM Interface is modular and multiple units can be "stacked" to handle higher load requirements.
