Strange that he abandoned the friendly confines of SI, the bus cult has a lot more adherents here than on usenet. I could never detect more than 1 or 2 possible friends of Corse on usenet, he was quite the lonely warrior there. Dean's analysis here isn't exactly consistent with his take on the recent "good news" on P4 boards much ballyhooed here. realworldtech.com Though not all results are back, a recent survey sent to motherboard makers has indicated P4 boards are still 1% or less of their total production.> Compare and contrast: Most motherboard makers are indicating between 5% and 20% of their unit sales are DDR based boards (for both PIII and Athon), with the smaller vendors claiming the larger percentage, and most of those based on either the AMD 760 or ALi MaGiK1 chipset. The top motherboard makers are all reducing their production of DDR boards because there just doesn't seem to be any demand. In fact, over 90% of all shipments currently are either PIII or Athlon motherboards supporting SDRAM. Of course, the last thing isn't that big a surprise, when 512meg PC133 SDRAM DIMMs are going for $72 on pricewatch. As for AMD & Rambus, who's supposed to be building a chipset, anyway?
