I have heard it. There are layers upon layers to Lord of the Flies- what you mention is fairly superficial. I like what Golding has to say about it, and of course, I like what I have to say about it. I also think the book should not be read by adolescents, like Romeo and Juliet I feel the themes are too dangerous and incendiary for children.

As in the case of Greg, using a book he hasn't read, I find it hard to have a discussion with someone who isn't really knowledgeable about this- Greg hasn't even read the book. If you want to read some commentary and discuss this, fine. But I'm no marathon poster anymore. Haven't the time to post volumes on Golding and his Flies.

You can keep your opinion- or read some commentary. Maybe you'll change your mind. Or at least enlarge it. But it makes no diff to me. I've got to get back to work.
