Well, you seem to be an expert on the literary qualities of this book. Congrats. I don't mean this as a slam but the fact is as you state it..."the book should not be read by adolescents" That IS who reads it and the impact from this on modern society is through them. I don't have the appreciation that you do for its literary qualities and don't believe that the impact you think it should have as a literary work are valid in 2001. Its sort of like watching "Refer Madness" in 1974. It didn't accomplish its original intent, although it still had some value for the kids who watched it. Well, the kids reading LOTF in 2001 have their own experiences to blend this with. Your students???? Congrats again. You finally got a job?
