All four of them fired.

Like I said, I didn't follow it. The reason I asked was that it seemed like it would take 20 cops to produce 41 bullets.

I understand that cops are trained to aim for the torso. I understand that they would all respond to the sound of "gun." I understand that a wounded person can still do damage to a cop so they need to make sure he is sufficiently incapacitated to not fire his weapon. I'm prepared to concede eight bullets. Eight bullets and your story can work. With 41, no way.

I have absolutely no experience in this area. The best I can relate is what might be reasonable for me to do if there were an intruder in my house and I had a gun. I shoot him once. If he starts to fall, I stop shooting. If he shows some sign of movement other than falling, I shoot again. Maybe, the second time I shoot twice, just to be sure, for a total of three shots. I couldn't justify emptying my gun into him. I might do it because I'm not trained and I'd be scared, but I wouldn't be proud of it. I'm sorry. A trained officer doesn't shoot ten times, even if he's by himself, let along with three of his buddies shooting too. This isn't dodge city.

The victim would be just as dead with four to eight shots. But the optics would be so much better. I have to be suspicious at 41.
