Believe me, I _try_ to carefully put included text from other authors inside quote marks.
Not to harp on this issue, but the quoting and threading tools here in SI are truly primitive. For an example of better tools, look to the standards used for the past decade or more with Usenet newsreaders, where it is easy to have quoted text shown like this:
Joe Example wrote: > included text is quoted like this, automatically, which > makes it very easy to see who wrote what, even when > other text is included, like this: > > The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog
(I generated the example above manually. Newsreaders typically threadify and add quote symbols automagically.)
