Well, I play mostly on the long side, and I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Obviously the Protection they received, which could potentially go as far as creating market Distortions, if you know what I mean...


I think that the type of longs who would get pissed of at shorters are the ones who hire a promoter to keep the stock up while they dump the stock to the unsuspecting people who are buying into the promoters hype. You can usually tell who the promoter is because he will stand behind the company through thick and thin....from $28 all the way down to sub $1. Even when the promises that the company makes never materialize and the main doods are clearly either unethical or completely incompetant to run a business. If you run into longs that are really worried about those evil shorts and seem to stick by the company even though there is no compelling reason to do so, just look at the insider sales and see if there is some entity that is regularly selling. They need the fish to stay in the stock and keep on buying so that they can eeek out the last few pennies from the shares they are holding.
