Recently I learned that posting of one's thoughts in a
public forum is called "blogging" (a thread like this
one is often called a "weblog")

I've thought about why I do this blogging thing--and I'm
sure that it is an addiction. I don't know that it is
particularly unhealthy. A very nice alternative to smoking
I should think;-)

I've tried to quit SI several times, but in the middle of
the night, spending a few minutes to blurt your thoughts
out in cyberspace, doesn't seem like too big a deal.

I too get a kick out of the little red number in the inbox.
