Question:

Cellnet's just launched GPRS service (assuming they are working and the MOT handsets are not recalled) has a couple of rate plans. Let us just use the $11.35 (I converted from Bristish pound to US$) for the first mb and $5.66 for additional mb for the following example.

qualcomm.com

Here, QC gave GPRS the generous speed of 45 kbps. So if my calculation is correct, the 3 minute MP3 song equals 24.3 mb. At cellnet's rate, this is $143.23????????? for one 3-minute MP3 song!!!!!!!!!

What would be the cost of streaming real time quotes?

Is GPRS, therefore, nothing more than yet another wireless email device, which speed is almost insignificant?
