I agree, JoCo. In quality and apparent encoding rate necessary to achieve that quality, it compares extremely well so far. That may attract VC ( and advertisers) with a little vision. Their niche content is fine, and now that they have a pretty sizable network to try it out in, I am sure they will make adjustments to what works and what does not. Again, if they have the time. I, personally, am quite concerned about that aspect of the play here, and I think the present abiding risk is primarily and simply money.

Just heard an overview of the telecom revolution that is almost sure to come in one form or another. One startling statistic that I am sure many of you knew- I did not. In 1999 the entire net transmitted approximately one Petabyte of data in a month. Fiber optics have the capacity to transmit that in one second. But the battle for the last mile is controlled not only by congress, but also 50 separate state regulatory commissions. So slow going at best. A thicket of competing economic and political interests and power bases. However, someday it will happen. Hope iNEXTV is around for that day, because the tech does seem to compare favorably, and they do seem to have advanced along the learning curve, but it sure as hell has been an expensive degree.

( PS fat pipes are delightful, as many of you knew long before me. Highly recommended for anyone who spends much time online)
