the patience of Israelis has a limit.

I beleive you're correct. But I think Sharon is going to abide by his declared unilateral cease-fire (minus self-defense), and let the evidence build for his case to take military action (and with the new car bombings, as well as attempted bombings, this case if building fast).

The US has this guy Burns trying to make "nice-nice" between both sides, but I'm fairly positive that he'll fail. Arafat has lost control. He let the Hamas and PFLP guerillas out and now they are running amuck. He just won't have the ability to put the genie back in the bottle.

And a war might be what Arafat wants, knowing that there will be pressure upon Israel not to go too far, thus preserving his position as leader.

I give it another week, tops, unless Burns can obtain some success.
