<Are you sure HPUX 11.0i will run on anything other than an Itanium from HP?

As far as I've heard Dell will offer WinXP and Linux, no HPUX.

This is a very good point. To keep the Tru64 and VMS
folks off of lower cost Alpha boxes, they weren't supported.
Classic case was the Multia. It took a while but an
unsupported version of firmware eventually showed up and
today a Multia is a "not uncommon" platform for folks to
plop VMS on via the Hobbyist license.

We know from admission that the IBM workstation that is
shipping has little more than an IBM case on an Intel system. I believe Compaq will be doing the same as both
are targetting McKinley for development. Does HP manufacture their own IA64 workstation and cripple HP/UX so
it will only run on an HP workstation?

I guess that is one way to snarf up some hardware revs
(or more accurately, make sure your OS only runs on your
platform so as to not kill off your line of hardware).
