Hi Folks: MEMORIAL DAY. Been gone this weekend. As the RR family was returning home this morning, the first thing we saw through the trees driving down the drive way was one of our American flags waving in the wind. Was really a neat thing to see.
Although our house is more than a quarter of a mile off the road, and can't be seen, we have 3 American flags flying today. One on the front porch, one on the well house, and one on the back deck.
Made me think again of those that died for us in all the battles so my family and others across the globe could have freedom. How soon we forget and take for granted.
Like I've said in previous posts, we are a family that still stands up at parades when the American flag goes by. Amazingly, sometimes we are the only ones standing among those sitting on their butts on the curb. I want to yell "get your ass up."
Yes, the RR family is quite patriotic.
I've written before about my Dad who flew in B-17 bombers over Europe in WWII. The courage, the discipline, the dedication to this Country, it must have taken to fly in those missions day after day seeing your buddies get blown out the sky on either side of you wings. He never talked of the war, even when asked. It was something you could tell was not to be described.
Thanks Dad. And thanks to all the others who fought to assure that me and my family can have freedom, prosperity, and hope for the future.
Was at a very moving event last night, with a band and fireworks. Was a very emotional evening. The symphony played patriotic songs, good songs, happy songs. I saw people cry, I cried, when they played "God Bless America" as a huge American flag was raised and the fireworks went off in the sky. I am so proud to be an American. I love this Country.
God bless the United States of America.
Thanks Dad.
