You should make up your mind, do you want anarchy, or reason?

Oh dear, if we don't have government, we are not allowed to think. I forgot about that. Good point!

Why should people be expected to behave in a particular manner that corresponds to your unspoken assumptions about what is correct?

I only expect them to behave in a manner which benefits themselves. I have no objection to such a policy amongst rational, mature people, with regard and respect for others.

If there are "no rules..period" then what can be drawn upon to distinguish between what is decent and indecent

You don't know? You have to consult the opinion of someone else everytime you act? You don't know how to behave decently to your children without reading a book? And far far worse--do you mean to imply that when you DO act decently--it is only because you have read it in a rule book? The fact that the rule came from a place other than your own heart and reason, therefore makes it a worthy rule to follow. You would love Afghanistan.

You are in essence saying that no rules are needed as long as nobody does anything wrong.

No, I am saying that reasonable, intelligent, good hearted people--do not need other people telling them how they ought to behave. They can decide it on their own. Also, do you think people are incapable of disobeying rules. I break them often, when they are conflict with safety. Rules are made for the lowest common denominator, and they never address the specific, but, rather the general.

Assuming a standard, and denying it's existence at the same time. Now that's twisted logic

I have never denied the existence of reason, empathy, and compassion.
