Yo Ranger, thanks for reposting that note from last year, I loved reading then and enjoyed it again this time around.
I watched a lot of the Memorial Day specials on TV, amazing footage, amazing stories and amazing courage. It is hard to imagine our country being able to reproduce that effort, but one never knows until forced to confront true evil. When it's do or die, people produce beyond their wildest dreams.
I was a lucky guy, Vietnam was winding down when I turned 18, I was never called......I do believe we should have a mandatory national service of some sort, I think we would all understand ourselves better if we were required to serve our country. And there are a lot of ways to serve the country without toting a gun.
We have a wonderful place here in America. As you know, I love to travel the world and experience life in other places. After being away, it is always great to return to the US. There are many, many things that we can do better, but after traveling the world, I am always amazed at just how well this place works.
Thanks to your Pop, and thanks to mine...... Scott |
