HK PRESS:PCCW Unlikely To Get US OK On Goodwill Write Off Updated: Sunday, May 27, 2001 08:48 PM ET HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--Hong Kong- and New York-listed Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd. (PCW, news, msgs) isn't expected to obtain approval from the U.S. Securities and Futures Commission to write off US$22 billion of goodwill from the purchase of what was then called Cable & Wireless HKT, against reserves, Ming Pao Daily reports, quoting a company circular. The company wrote off the amount last year in its Hong Kong books, instead of amortizing it against profits in years to come.
