Here is something I found on Alcatel, while re-checking a fiber network story... MartinT public.wsj.com May 16, 2001 Alcatel Takes Control of Satellite Unit; 360Networks Outlook Hurts Its Stock Dow Jones Newswires PARIS -- Alcatel SA has taken full control of its satellite unit Alcatel Space and reduced its holding in French defense-electronics company Thales SA in a cash-and-shares deal that gives Alcatel a key position in the data-transmission business. Alcatel said Wednesday it agreed to buy from Thales the 48.8% stake in Alcatel Space it didn't already own, paying Thales 795 million euros ($698.7 million), half in cash and half in Thales shares.
