Bill:

"That is probably why dell had gone to ASUS mobos, sick of the low cost ones. Of course the Dell price stick might make ASUS into a maker of bad mobos too?
By that I mean dell will want lower and lower prices as time goes by. The other makers dropped prices by lowering quality and ASUS will be under pressure to do this as well....there goes the ASUS good name if they buckle."

Perhaps by taking on the AMD product line, which delivers high quality at a fair price (vs. Dell's existing product line of fair quality at a high price) in the next while, perhaps the costs of higher quality mobos can then be absorbed in Dell's overall pricing structure thus obviating the need for scrimping by mobo makers...That way Dell wins, the mobo maker wins and the customwer wins...and Dell can, without the risk of compromising its own integrity, then continue to position itself realistically as a comprehensive "one-stop" shopping experience!!!
