Why the advanced business management class is case history?

When I was at MIT, course 15(business management, school of Alfred P Sloan) was for students who failed engineering courses. Today, when we look at business management we have to understand technology first.

Business case history is taught by looking at business failures and how the new management did to revive the business.

In serious investments, how the management is carrying on to run the business is first studied to know if they needed consulting or not.

Even GE one of the largest corporations had to have business consulting to fix some of their deficiencies in some of their subsidiaries. You can watch the business consulting done on the GE board at this Silicon Investor site.
