Not really. According to today's Wall Street Journal, Itanium is "half as fast as currently shipping Intel processors." Really? So many benchmarks and only one description? SPECint2000 404 ( a little disappointing but more or less expected). SPECfp2000 711 (You said you'd be very surprised of it beat P4 by 10%. How about 19%? intel.com
