re Itanium: There was an article out over the weekend stating that this new chip handles data at 1/2 the speed of the x86 (32bit). I don't know where they're coming up with that since speed is a variable of several things, one item being the total amount of data that can be processed within a certain timeframe The Itanium handles nearly two times the amount of data within the same time as does 32bit systems making it ideal for higher processing functions Of course, individuals read that "1/2 speed" comment and generally come to inaccurate conclusions regarding overall performance
