The Ten Commandments of Rupert Murdoch. Nightline, June 12, 1997

MURDOCH (Nightline) GATES (esecurities)

I. Business is War Business is War
II. *
III. Streamline (with a vision) Invest until a monopoly
is secured for Microsoft
Office, 95/NT, et al and
the only reasonable way to
the Internet is via
Microsoft.
IV. Give em what they want Give them what I want

V. Manipulate politicians Play golf with Clinton and
make Gore a keynote speaker
at Microsoft 100 CEO summit
Give Cambridge $ in return
for Knighthood and Sir Trey

VI. Risk is good. Risk is bad. (ref/Internet)

VII. Sports is the Gatekeeper. Windows is the Gatekeeper.
*Has no clue that content
reduces risk and sports
represents a guaranteed
supply of programming
without any risk.

VIII. Leverage is power. Leverage is power.

IX. Worship the Sun King. Worship Microsoft.

X. The Sun King will live forever. Microsoft will live
forever.

Comments: Murdoch knows content. Microsoft does not have a clue about
content however it may not matter if they are successful at
establishing Windows (95/NT/Office...) paradigm as the defacto
standard operating system/gateway to/for the Internet/Internet
appliances, et al. however, when it becomes necessary and Microsoft
has $100+ billion in cash, Microsoft will merely make a 'friendly'
tender for (NYSE:NWS) the day the Sun sets(dies). Trey Bien.

*missed II.
