There are always much faster products "just around the corner." Foster, McKinley, EV7, EV8, Sledgehammer, POWER4, etc. So what? Itanium has come a long way from your "permanent pilot platform" prediction (try saying that five times fast). Late as it is, Itanium is still first to market compared to all the others.

By the way, 860 chipset is only 2-way SMP, and it only supports up to 4 GB of RDRAM. The real 4-way Foster chipset will come from ServerWorks, but that won't be here until late this year.
