re: "Am I a bad person for dreaming about all that air pollution drifting towards Texas with a smile?"

Not at all, as it is, the biggest source of air pollution in the Grand Canyon (was and probably currently), is a coal power plant jointly owned by the Los Angeles DWP (I don't know if Edison International still owns the other part).
So Los Angeles, takes water from the Owens Valley hundreds of miles away. And for electricity, pollutes National Treasures like the Grand Canyon (sending the resulting pollution, soot, and mercury to occupants of the Southwest Desert - most probably Native Americans).
