That was expertcity.com. They just changed their name to expertlive.com.
You should know that, theoretically, you don't have to pay unless they remedy your problem. You can tell them you want them to waive the fee. (Of course you might not know whether it's fixed or not at the end of the session. But they ones i've talked to have told me that if it wasn't fixed, to come back to them and they'd try again w/o charging. They really want to please because each client can leave a performance evaluation.) But if they try their best for 45 minutes and they've bid only ten dollars, I pay it. Once in desperation I accepted a bid for over 20 dollars, maybe 24., and when she wasn't able to fix it I said I wouldn't give her 24. but i'd pay her ten for trying. She said she couldn't change it, but she could waive the 24. and I could go back right away and post my problem again, and she would bid 10. and I could choose her. (She was clearly amazed when I showed up and paid the ten dollars!) It is miraculous-seeming when they take over your computer screen. Just amazing technology.
Have you tried the Computer Learning thread on SI? They know so much it's intimidating, and sometimes I can't follow their instructions because I don't know what the hell they're talking about, but they really try to be nice and helpful and patient. I've learned a lot there. Soon I'll rise to the level of merely extreemly ignorant. Before I was beneath that.
So Solon. On this island... can we play dodge ball? |
