I have never claimed [or has Price to my knowledge ] that adequate protein cannot be gained in a carefully considered vegetarian diet. But just the fact that it must be so carefully structured must tell one that this is not a natural situation.

Protein isn't the problem according to Price. Lack of certain fat soluble vitamins found only in animal fat is.

None the less now that I think of it I don't know of any pro athletes that have had a prolonged successful career while practicing a vegan life style.Even if you could name one or two you must explain why they are so few and far between.

The studies done on vegans in this country must be looked at carefully IMO. Scientific method is a must and on this subject quite difficult.

My dad was a vegan . Before he died at age 73 he was probably healthier than most Americans. But I would not call him healthy at all by my standards..... like the vast majority of vegans he exercised, never ate fast food, drank alcohol, ate sweets or participated in an unhealthy lifestyle. What health he had was in spite of being a vegan.

The point is Price studied those that were vegans for reasons other than health [ cultural ].Thus he was able to compare their health to others without the variables associated with vegans concerned with their health.

In my own life I can't help but notice how unhealthy the vegans that I know look . Pale in skin color, premature aging and under weight.

BTW I whole heartily dispute the notion that any carefully done objective study shows that a diet containing reasonable amounts of meat has been shown to be unhealthy in any way.
