I swallow a lot of emotion to get to the place that I can deflect anger and pursue calm. In the flesh or online, I can mediate fairly well.
With my thread, may it rest in peace, I only found it necessary to block 2 people from posting there because they were oblivious to any and all entreaties for calm and a source of ongoing distraction.
A regular here called attention to one of these folks when they showed up here recently. It might be argued that dredging up a person's past is in itself a provocative act. But I've been around long enough to know that it does not matter.
The returnee has a long record of verbally abusive behavior that arises with or without provocation. Whether this is a result of being potty trained while watching Jerry Springer or having Idi Amin as a dietitian, I don't know. Nor, in a forum like this, should one's background as the adult child of an aardvark (or whatever) matter a whit.
This is not about competence and I doubt any others come here to compete. It is about assisting each other in stocktrading, with a modicum of civility.
I see that some taunting and name-calling have begun. I imagine the Pampers will soon be loosened so real poop can be flung. Oh goody, instead of trading, we can soon have Cat Scan flatliners providing faux-WWF matches for us, if others show up and follow suit.
I hope this can be avoided. I hope Stan has blocking power and the will to use it. I'd hate to see this degenerate into "The Thread 90210" starring Rapmaster Scatology Narcissist.
