engineer,

<< why don't you just post "I think Qualcomm are a bunch of idiots". >>

Let me assure you that if I intended to say "I think Qualcomm are a bunch of idiots", that is exactly what I would post, but instead I posted exactly what I intended to post.

<< Would be more dirdct and less whining on your part >>

I apologize for anything I stated that could be construed as whining. I am hopeful that we will be able to ship sufficient quantity of MSM5105 to manufacturers shipping for Verizon, Sprint PCS, et al, so that FQ4 & F2001 numbers are not impacted.

If we miss numbers, then I'll whine.

<< the 5100 was early >>

In what respect was the sampling of the MSM5100 announced in April early?

Until last September it was on the roadmap for December.

February 2000 press release states: "Sample shipments to customers are expected to begin in Q4 of 2000, with production volumes expected to start by 2001."

<< I think that your trying to push this sinister thing >>

I see nothing sinister. To the contrary 1xRTT deployment seems to be progressing on about the pace I would have anticipated, with the exception of the fact that I had hoped we would be shipping more MSM5105's for Korea in FQ4 than it appears we will be.

<< Koreans ... ordred 5105 chips, got their applications running and made a market decision to build a phone out of it ... back out of their order commitment and change to the faster one. >>

As a shareholder, Korean manufacturers backing out of order commitments concerns me. Do you think it should not?

For whatever reason, for some reason the chip falls short of the carriers expectations to be able to offer AOD/VOD applications using it, and this may be as a result of the higher peak rates, the more powerful processor of the MSM51000, its other features, or the inadequacy of current AOD/VOD software platforms to provide satisfactory service to the handset.

When 1xRTT handsets are available Stateside, and given the fact that 1xRTT service deployment will just be commencing, will you purchase one with the MSM5105 "value" chip, or wait for one powered by the MSM5100 which should be available about 4 months later. Maybe you'll purchase both. <g> I'll wait for the MSM5100. I'm going back to one a year. <ggg>

Best,

- Eric -
