Elizabeth, thanks for the info on Ricoh. The camera itself, excluding the wireless feature, sounds quite remarkable. It's too bad the basic camera uses a SmartMedia card of up to 64 mb and not a CF. The wireless feature suggests future directions, but I don't believe it would be very practical at this point. Consider that most wireless handsets are able to send data at less than 14.4k baud, and consider how long it would take to send even a compressed, high resolution image. QUALCOMM has a high data rate, CDMA based system that would permit some 200 times more speed, but the service providers have not implemented that part of the system. Unfortunately, even a 64 mb card would be barely sufficient for a high resolution camera like the Ricoh, forcing the user to carry two or three extra cards at all times. A single 64 mb card could hold scarcely more than 15 shots taken in highest resolution, and even less, using one of the camera's high resolution options. The macro feature, going down to one cm., sounds incredible.
