Tyan Starts Shipping Its Thunder K7 to distribution channels xbitlabs.com Haven't seen this posted yet: Today Tyan informed its distributor companies that tomorrow they would start shipping Thunder K7 S2462 mainboard based on AMD-760MP chipset and supporting Dual-Athlon configurations. Although Athlon 4 with SmartMP intended for these mainboards is due only on June 4, Tyan decided to start supplying this product tomorrow already to ensure that the boards are available in retail by the Server Palomino launch date. The full specs of the board and the photo are available in this pdf. The curious thing about this board is the fact that TYAN warned its distributors about the necessity to acquire special power supply units and registered DIMM memory modules. Also Tyan claims that their mainboard will be able to work not only with Athlon 4 with SmartMP, but also with the regular Thunderbird processors, which is a very pleasing fact. Andreas
