New York Drug Testing Contract Awarded to ABMC Products -- Rapid Drug Screen Product Series to Be Used For On-Site Screenings --
KINDERHOOK, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 29, 2001--American Bio Medica Corporation (NASDAQ:ABMC - news) today announced that it and its distributor partner, Comprehensive Toxicology Services, Inc., had won a key contract by the State of New York to provide drug testing resources statewide.
The awarded contract is for ``Lot II'' of the state's comprehensive substance abuse testing program, which covers ``testing devices with laboratory confirmation and proficiency testing provided and including administrative services.'' Under the agreement, Comprehensive Toxicology Resources will serve as contractor, managing and delivering these drug testing services. ABMC will effectively be the sole provider of on-site drug testing products.
According to ABMC chief executive officer Robert L. Aromando, Jr., earning this contract not only directly benefits ABMC's sales, it demonstrates the company's focus on partnering with leading distributors to bid on, and win, major government contracts.
``This is a high-profile win for ABMC and Comprehensive Toxicology that demonstrates how ABMC's distribution partnerships have positioned the company to compete for state government contracts, here at home, and throughout the country,'' said Aromando. ``Being selected by the State of New York, which runs one of the most thorough state substance abuse testing programs in the nation, is testimony to both the quality of Rapid Drug Screen(TM), and the synergy between ABMC and Comprehensive Toxicology Services.''
The contract runs through November 30, 2002. Financial details on the scope of this contract cannot be released at this time, because Lot I and Lot III awards are still pending, and the total cost of Lot II services is determined by volume and utilization rates. The state's budget for drug testing services is, however, estimated to be in excess of $1 million.
