I think the 2.5G picture is so clear that I wonder if I am missing something.

Come 3rd or 4th qtr this year, the US is going to be the battleground.

In this corner, Sprint and VZ. Sprint had a release (which I cannot find) that talked about the 3 important criteria for 1x.

1) increased voice capacity, tested at 1.8 times.

2) data speed, consistently at 144kpbs under lab conditions.

3) battery life improvements - only 30-50% vs the 50% expected.

In the other corner, we have:

GPRS??? EDGE???

GPRS increases voice capacity?
We know about the GPRS data rate problems.
GPRS better battery life?

On top of that, we know the cost differences per Q's economic paper published in Feb. So the subscribers are going to have to choose between 1x and may be GPRS this fall?

I wonder how well the CEOs of Cingular, AWE and VSTR sleep at night?
