Gavric, Xbitlabs, May 30, 2001
ECS (Elitegroup) is the first company venturing to launch a mainboard for Intel Pentium 4 based on the yet not announced Intel 845 (Brookdale) chipset.

The new product is called P4IBM. It is a MicroATX mainboard for Intel Pentium 4 CPUs with Socket478. As we have already said, the board is built on Intel 845 core logic which comprises 82845 Memory Controller Hub, 82801BA I/O Controller Hub and a Firmware Hub. It makes P4IBM the first Socket478 mainboard to be used for the prospective Pentium 4 models (Northwood and part of Willamette 2GHz).

P4IBM will be provided with one AGP 4x slot, three PCI and one CNR slot. Then, it will boast three 168-pin DIMM slots supporting PC133/PC100 SDRAM. The maximal memory capacity for this board is 3GB.
On P4IBM you?ll find AV97 audio codec and integrated Realtek 8100B LAN controller.

ECS will also implement some overclocking-friendly functions. In particular, P4IBM will support the brand Magic Setting TV technology allowing to adjust FSB frequency and Vcore by means of BIOS Setup.

The novelty is scheduled to be demonstrated at the nearing Computex session.
