AT&T Wireless will be the one to watch, as Nokia anoints them as the vanguard of GPRS/3G in the United States.

Hate to say this....but AWE was the one to watch last December. If they had decided to go with a 1x upgrade, it would have pretty much guaranteed getting most of the TDMA operators around the world. Now the best Qualcomm can hope for is a split...

At the time, I dont think I appreciated how big an impact the decision by AWE would have on other TDMA operators. I was simply glad that AWE had abandoned the EDGE upgrade path. However, Qualcomm missed a huge win when they announced they were going with GSM/GPRS.
