jcky,

Good to see you around these parts again.....

The use of affirmative action in America, especially in higher education, runs into a lot of difficulty for a couple of reasons. For one thing, the success of Asians or Americans of Asian descent makes some of the rationales a bit hard to swallow. If this is a remedy for past slavery and discrimination, then why did a University of California study show that at the most selective schools in the system, about 90 percent of the affirmative action slots would have gone to better qualified Asian students (not whites) who weren't even allowed into America when the slavery and worst educational discrimination occurred?

And the increasing prevalence of mixed race children and adults also makes the system difficult to sustain.

I think we agree on this one.
