Exxon reported 1st quarter profits of $5 billion, an increase over last year of about 45%. "It's truly remarkable," Boguch said. Year-end earnings for Texaco show $2.8 billion profit. That's up 135 percent over the year before. Chevron's profit for 2000 was $5.1 billion, a jump of 150% from 1999.
