Seagate plant just makes the recording discs.

But I was interested in the new assembly plant that was opened about 18 months ago nearby.

Look at the longer view here, there may be a temporary slowdown in high end drives, but the long term trend is up big time. Earlier on this thread, there were several posts discussing industry forecasts for HDD growth, and they are predicting robust growth.

SFLX customers like Seagate and IBM are building capacity. IBM is now building what will be the world's largest HDD manufacturing plant south of San Jose. Now this may mean that their margins will drop, but the unit volume growth should be significant. Since Smartflex gets paid per unit assembled, this company should still do well.

I think this stock is unfairly penalized because the analysts look at it as part of the very volatile HDD business, where margins swing dramatically. But really this is a service company, and as long as unit growth is there, the company should do well.
