Asia Rubber-Ford tyre recall seen helping market

JAKARTA/BANGKOK, May 25

(Reuters) - Rubber prices may pick up from their lowest levels in 30 years, helped by Ford Motor Co's (nyse: F - news - people) recall of Firestone tyres, but Indonesia's political crisis and weak rupiah are clouding the outlook, traders
said on Friday. Rubber traders in Indonesia, the world's second largest producer, expect the price of tyre-grade SIR20 to rise to 25 U.S. cents per lb in the coming weeks following Ford's decision to replace 13 million Firestone tyres.
